To some folks, my posts probably seem senseless. But they're not senseless to me.
Yesterday (July 5) we mowed the Homestead again. I am thankful that I am still able to mow.
While I was mowing, I noticed that the neighbor and his wife (with their small white dog) were walking toward our driveway where my wife was weed eating. Now this neighbor and his wife they give me bad vibes whenever I'm near them, they always have. They talked to my wife, and then they headed back toward their doublewide.
It just so happens that I was mowing on my side of the fence, just behind their doublewide. It was just after we had purchased this property, that I noticed that it seemed to me like this same man was too often outside watching me and my wife. So, I nicknamed him, "Big Eyes."
Anyway, as they approached me, Big Eyes halfheartedly lifted his hand to speak to me. I waved back, and shutoff the mower. We talked awhile. He (his wife repeated it) said they had told my wife that we were welcome to sit on their porch, ask for ice water, and use their bathroom. I told them I appreciated their offer.
Then Big Eyes dropped the clincher. "If you decide to sell this property, would you let me have the first offer?", he asked. "It would make my yard look better", he said.
I'm one of those people who get a gut feeling about some things. I also study on what people say. Frankly, I've always had a suspicion (suspected) that these two people didn't want my wife and me living next door to them... and now I know my suspicion was right! We purchased this property five years ago, and only now do they offer us shade, ice water, and use of their bathroom. What they are really after is our property. Pretty clever! If they could manage to trick us into selling them our property, then they would be rid of us!
