Homesteading On 3+ Acres

All my life I have wanted a few acres of land to call my own. Well, finally, after nearly sixty years, I have a few acres of hillside land to call my own. I know there are people who would laugh at my accomplishment. But to me, even though it is only 3+ acres, it is a big thing. Of course, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, and my mother didn’t spoon-feed me and coddle me all my life. Certainly people who have never had to do for themselves are the people who would laugh at my few acres of hillside land. 
But my small homestead isn’t about those people or anyone else for that matter. I know I’m poor. I know I’m always going to be poor. These two things aren’t going to change for me. But I like to think life is about joy and happiness, and enjoying accomplishing something good, even if that something is only a very small accomplishment.
